Most likely, no. Although we recognize unexpected injuries and illnesses can happen to anyone at any time, our office only provides services to eligible students with permanent disabilities, not temporary conditions. However, we are happy to help students navigate sudden situations. If you may be impacted for a short period of time, such as with a cold or flu, we encourage you to review the general tips below that may assist you in keeping up with your work:
-
- Review your syllabi. Often, your professors have policies regarding short-term absences and missed work, and procedures for how to let them know if you need to use them.
- Communicate with your instructors (see email template below).
- Use some of the free or low-cost assistive technology options to help with things like writing, taking notes, and reading.
- When communicating with your professors or college advising staff, you do not need to disclose the specific illness or injury. You just need to let them know that you’re ill or injured and are experiencing symptoms.
- Email accommodations@dbayscpa.com for a sample email template you can use for communicating your needs with your professor.
Meetings are reserved for 365球赛平台 students. We recognize that your parent or guardian plays an important role in supporting your academic journey. Our staff will first meet with you to discuss your accommodations, services, resources, and any concerns you may have. This initial meeting helps us understand your needs and gain a direct understanding of your experience. After meeting with you one-on-one and with your permission, your parent or guardian may be invited to join us for a recap of the discussion and to address any additional questions.
